Douglas Amateur Swimming Club (DASC)

Douglas Swimming Club has over 100 members aged from 7 years upwards with a range of swimming abilities and our goal is to ensure our swimmers enjoy their club sessions while being given help and encouragement to improve their technical ability and swimming fitness. We train at the Island's National Sports Centre (NSC) on a Friday and Sunday night and children attend the session according to their swimming level.

Friday Sessions

Friday Club sessions are geared towards developing swimming skills accross all strokes. Sessions are designed to meet the needs at each swimming level and poolside helpers are on hand to assist coaches. Douglas Club does not hire the pool on a Friday evening, therefore, those attending Friday night Club sessions are required to pay £2.50 at the desk prior to coming onto poolside.

Session 1 5.45pm-6.30pm - £2.50 per week

Session 2 6.30pm-7.30pm - £2.50 per week

Sunday Sessions

Sunday Club sessions are all about technique. Each week we focus on different skills to improve strokes, starts and turns, essential for improving a swimmers overall performance. Poolside helpers are on hand to assist coaches. This is a fun Club session that many of our Island squad swimmers are able to attend.

Session 1 5.00pm-6.00pm - £10 per month

Session 2 6.00pm-7.00pm - £10 per month

Session 3 7.00pm-8.15pm - £10 per month

If you are interested in joining the Club but are not able to make the Friday Club session please contact the Douglas Club Secretary who may be able to offer an alternative session time.

Swimming with DASC

Our members range from 7 years to 20 years+ and include a range of swimming abilities. While many of our Club members go on to become part of the Isle of Man Swimming Squad for many others their weekly club sessions meet all their needs.

Club sessions are run by ASA Coaches with poolside assistance from qualified ASA Poolside Helpers. Lesson plans are designed to improve swimming fitness as well as work on aspects of technique to enable our swimmers to become proficient in all strokes.

Douglas Swimming Club takes part in the Island's swimming league and actively encouarges its members to participate in these events and our own Club Gala's - it really is the taking part that counts and whilst every swimmer aims to improve their personal best times a great deal of fun is enjoyed on poolside, supporting other swimmers and being part of the team.

Club membership is £13.00 per month, with a discounted price of £12.00 for additional siblings. This includes ASA fees, all insurances and Club fees. An additional £2.50 is payable on Fridays (payed to the NSC) and Sunday Squad membership is £10 per month.

Why Not Give it a Try?

If you would like to try a Club session with Douglas Swimming Club you would be very welcome and we will be happy to make the arrangements. The only requirement is that new members are able to swim a minimum of 50m unaided.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you onto poolside.
